Red Wedding Dresses, Time Travel and True Love: Let's Go to the Movies!

Over the summer, while seeing a movie alone at 11 am on a Tuesday or something decadent like that, I saw a preview for the movie About Time and remember thinking, "yes, I'd see that" (as I compulsively must decide after every single preview that I see. Are you guys the same way?) It looked like it was on the cheesy side but also on the sweet, sentimental and funny side too, and the preview mentioning that it was written and directed by the same person who did Bridget Jones's Diary and Love Actually was another plus for me.

While I know a lot of people have fanatical love for Bridget Jones and Love Actually, I just have a normal love for those movies, but a love none the less. I was in Ireland when I saw Love Actually (actually) it was almost Christmas and the first and only one so far that I didn't spend with my family. I remember sitting in the back of a small and dirty feeling theater in Limerick and crying when the "All I Want For Christmas" scene happened, because if you know my family, you know we love that song. So cue homesick waterworks.

Anyway, I kind of forgot about About Time but then was given tickets to go to a free screening and remembered how I totally wanted to see that movie anyway. Score! I ended up also going to this movie by myself, which - seriously guys, it's the best- and it totally exceeded my expectations!

Not only is About Time not as cheesy as I thought it was going to be,but it really stuck with me. I found myself thinking about it throughout the weekend (don't you love when that happens?) I didn't roll my eyes once! And it was also laugh out loud funny and tear inducing too. The best combination!

Here's the preview if you haven't seen it yet:

What do you think? Do you think you'll see it? It comes out in select theaters November 1 and everywhere November 8.  Here's the official website and Facebook page, for more details.

Can we talk about how much we love Richard Curtis's other movies in the comments too? And can't you see yourself being friends with Rachel McAdams? Did you have a slight moment of regret for not having a red wedding dress too? If you had to have a British dad, wouldn't you totally want it to be this guy?

Let's chat. I miss you guys!
